Amazon Fire TV 65″ Omni Series 4K UHD Smart TV With Alexa

I have waited 3 months to write this review hoping I could eventually like it. No I don't and if it wasn't so much trouble to send it back, I would have. Had I known how the enter workings were with Alexa I would never have bought it. My Echo cube works much better than this TV. You have to use the remote to operate this and with my cube I don't. I can be in another room and I can get my cube to work. I hate this TV and have thought about putting my foot through it. This is the first Alexa device that I have had problems with. When you change a channel the volume won't come on for at least 35 seconds. It doesn't change channels smoothly. It blanks to a blank screen before getting the picture back. I should have sent it back after 30 days but I was just hoping it was me and that when I figured it out it would be fine. DON'T BUY THIS TV! VERY FRUSTRATING! There are days I am in tears over it. 🤔

Update Problem fixed!

Amazon contacted me and after help from several people helped me the TV now works as was intended. I hardly ever use my remote anymore. I really like this TV now we had to change a few settings and do a couple resets so problem fixed. For the price of this TV it is worth every penny.

The TV will pick up and record half your conversations if you don't mute the microphone! Changing the keyword from "Alexa" to "Computer" , etc. DOES NOTHING! The TV will just start recording conversations whenever it triggers the microphone. The picture quality and everything else is GREAT!

We absolutely love this TV! Fantastic picture and set up with our Amazon devices for Surround Sound, which sets up in minutes.

I bought this smart TV for my father's 85th birthday. I thought hey I'll get my dad a giant 65in TV. He's always looking at the big TV's at the tech stores and I said I can't afford a nicer car, or house for him. But a giant TV I can send him. Well he had to have the GeekSquad come and set it up. Then they said it was too big for the table, so we had to order legs. Then they came to set it up, and the back and forth on the phone was maddening. Did you get the code? My dad would say, and I would try to tell him to set up the Amazon TV, and he'd call the codes back to me. Is that a B or a D? No, Dad, that's an E. Then I remembered to call out the code like an airline employee. Now he's asking for another code. What did I set myself up for? In the long run, I hope he gets it running and enjoys the HBO, and Amazon shows that are way better than him watching god-awful dish TV with all the picker-and-mash reruns. I wanted to give him current entertainment and help with his loneliness. If you can bring another person into this new millennium, I highly recommend it. Now I hope he doesn't start ordering moving on my account, lol!

For some reason all the updates didn’t launch. Talked to a great CSR, and for it going so got airplay to work. 1 hour in, will update after I break it in

I Love this TV 65in. It has everything I need to watch and enjoy movies, live TV, etc. I purchased 2 - 43in Fire TVs I purchased one for my cousin he is my mechanic also and he didn't like it at first, but once I showed him how to use it, he loves it now. I'm so happy. The other TV I got for my other cousin has a 43in Fire TV, she is also my roommate, also didn't like it at first, until I showed her. All 3 three TVs have Alexa. Everyone is a happy camper as they say. I recommend Fire TV to everyone. A+++

I needed to upgrade my old t.v. as it was starting to have issues. I have been searching for a 4k one for quite some time and finally decided to purchase this one and I am glad that I did.

4k, smart, crisp picture and excellent sound quality.

The only downside was waiting over 30 minutes for it to do "updates"

It’s definitely worth the price I love it so far, however it isn’t as loud as I’d expect it to be for its size I have to put the volume on a 25 just hear it how I’d like. Other than that it’s a great television for the price.

needed a tv asap. good tv for the price because i got to do amazon payments which makes it affordable. but the alexa sometimes doesn't work that well which is dissappointing. and has trouble loading apps which is frustrating. but for cheap payments, thats what i get.

The color and sound are amazing! It’s perfect to add a sound bar to and it’s easy to set up. I haven’t experienced any glitches or connectivity issues at all. It adjusts to the lighting in the room which is a huge help because my Roku does not and I’m constantly fiddling with the brightness on that tv but NOT this one! It was a great value and Alexa makes loosing the remote very fun!

Our Samsung TV died after 6 years of use. It was a smart TV with a great picture, but it was time to replace it anyway. We took a chance on the Amazon Fire TV 65" Omni Series 4K UHD. We were MORE than pleasantly surprised.

The delivery was outstanding. Our Amazon delivery personnel were professional and prompt. They placed the new TV and took care of the packaging. We plugged in the new Fire TV and allowed the updates to load. That took about 30 minutes even with the hardwire networking. But, once it was done, we were exceedingly pleased with the picture quality, the Alexa integration, and the ability to use both Google TV and YouTube TV - along with the Fire TV settings.

The ability to connect bluetooth speakers, other Alexa devices, and bluetooth earbuds added to the joy we have found with the TV. We have also found the 3 HDMI ports a bonus! Running a PlayStation on the screen is also a joyful bonus.

If you purchase this TV, you won't be disappointed.

A good picture for the price. I use a Fire Stick so I expected the TV and Fire Stick to be compatible.
There are some different behaviors with this Fie TV compared to my old Samsung. Some settings were difficult to get right, like using the Fire Stick remote to control the TV and to use my Fire Stick settings instead of the Fire TV settings. I discovered after playing with a few settings, I don’t need the FireStick with this TV. It behaves like a FireStick.

WHERE ARE THE BOLTS???
The 65 inch Fire tv Omni arrived, we unpacked and plugged in put legs on. The thing is the back has 4 receptor areas for bolts, but no bolts with the tv. I ordered a universal stand for the tv due to no table long enough to support the tv. The stand came with bolts of varying lengths but not the appropriate diameter. FRUSTRATING!! I do not know the diameter, thread count, metric or standard that will actually fit this tv?
Fire tv people simply add in the bolt that complies with the female slots on the tv. Added bolts create a lot less frustration for the consumer. Thus far we love the tv, we just need to mount it.
For another one dollar in bolts Amazon Fire TV can alleviate this issue, I'm sure we're not the only ones.

I don't normally write reviews but I thought this one was necessary I'd like to start off saying I ordered this TV from Amazon it was packaged very well and there was no damage during shipping where this TV really shines the Alexa functionality and the fire TV operating system integration with all that said when setting up the TV it took longer than I'm used to because it seemed like it took over an hour to get the TV set up I'm not complaining at all about that I'm just saying as you first set up this TV make sure and be patient it had a lot of updates to do before you could even get into the home screen so I would say roughly about an hour so while it's doing that you might as well get some coffee or food but just be patient with it also when I bought this TV the amount of storage is not listed and that is something important to me as well because I was currently using A fire cube 3 and it had 16 gigs of internal storage on the TV you get 11 gigs of storage so I was able to completely restore all my apps that I was currently using on my fire cube so I'm very happy about that I will say though it seems like the processor was faster in the fire cube than in this TV because it does take longer when the software updates are installing so I'm thinking they might've put a regular fire stick in this TV the sound in the TV is decent I actually believe that the sound is better in this TV then in the high end Samsung TV that I had but if you think that the sound is not to your liking I would suggest getting a sound bar but so far even though it might not be the best in the world the sound is definitely good for a bedroom and that's where my TV is the TV has AirPlay so you can play videos from your iPhone I think my major grapes with this TV when the sun is shining you could definitely see a glare on your TV my other gripe it doesn't have a feature that the fire cube 3 has being physically disabled with cerebral palsy with the fire cube I could actually program it to work with my DIRECTV box to change the channels by voice with Alexa when I tried to set it up it would not complete the test so I spent three hours on the phone last night with Amazon and the lady had me to do all kinds of things and I don't think she was understanding me and her phone was actually very static to where I couldn't hear her so I asked her to speak to an advisor she didn't seem too happy and then she says I can help you and then finally after I asked her a second time to speak to a supervisor she finally connected me to someone and after talking to the supervisor and after he did some research sadly this TV does not have that feature so I'm not able to use Alexa to control my DIRECTV set top box even though that is a big disappointment because it's hard for me to use the DIRECTV remote I still like this TV but I honestly thought that that feature would be included with this TV but it's not so I would say they probably used a regular fire stick with this TV and be on the safe side I went ahead and paid extra do you have a protection plan in case the TV dies or something

This unit replace a 55" LG that was constantly having problems with Wi-Fi connectivity. This Fire TV redressed that as the Wi-Fi reception is great with no buffering issues whatsoever. While I can't speak to the picture quality being I'm blind, my wife said it's a step up from the LG in terms of resolution and clarity. What I really like about this TV is the Voice View screen reader capability, which enables me to access and select menu options. The speech synthesizer is decent but pronounces "resume" as "revoo," which threw me off a bit. I still applaud Amazon for including the capability and at least considering the needs of people with disabilities, which other manufacturers don't seem to do. The hands-free control is great and I like that I'm able to use voice commands with the remote, which again has far reaching benefits for folks with disabilities who may have neuropathy and/or carpel tunnel of the fingers and hands. Alexa integration is flawless, which I'd expect from Amazon being they manufactured the TV and created both the Fire and Alexa platforms. So why not five stars, you ask?

There's no need to have to enter a pin every time you want to change a basic system setting for the TV when all you want to do is set a pin for Prime Video purchases. We have two young children, and little hands have been known to grab the remote and accidentally purchase a video or two. But if you want to set a Prime Video pin to prevent said purchases, the pin also needs to be entered for such things as changing screen resolution, changing accessibility features, and other tasks that don't have anything to do with blocking purchases. Seems this is an opportunity for Amazon to enhance user experience so the pin can be more localized to the specific task as opposed to it being a global pin to complete all tasks.

All in all, it's a fine product and it's only going to get better as the technology continues to evolve. The twenty-four month no-intrest installment plan is also great as many more folks like me with competing expenses and limited budgets will be more inclined to go with a Fire TV instead of having to shell out several hundred to more than a thousand bucks at one shot. I wish there were an option to give half stars as I give this device four and a half stars. Amazon's world domination will continue because they seem to really know what customers want while centralizing and streamlining all their content. Don't see how other companies can keep up, quite honestly.
